From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
