World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US average was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise over last year and the network’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
